Polaris Direct Wins Two Awards in New England Regional Printing (PINE) Awards of Excellence

HOOKSETT, N.H. (April 23, 2019)—PINE has announced that Polaris Direct, a nationally acclaimed direct marketing services and printing company, is a multi-award winner in the association’s New England regional Awards of Excellence competition. The announcement was made with hundreds of industry professionals in attendance at PINE’s Industry Awards Gala, held at the Boston Marriott Burlington in Burlington, MA on April 11.

PINE’s Awards of Excellence competition attracted over 300 entries from over 35 printing and imaging companies across New England competing in a variety of printing and graphic communications categories such as best annual report, direct mail campaign, labels & packaging, and more. A full list of this year’s winners can be found here.

Polaris Direct received a Pinnacle Award for a multi-touch campaign that integrated print and digital for Gilda’s Club Twin Cities. In this series of three mailing pieces, Polaris told stories of three members of Gilda’s Club Twin Cities living with cancer, and how the organization works “to support, educate, and empower cancer patients and their families. Libby Utter, Executive Director, Gilda’s Club Twin Cities stated, “2018 marked Gilda’s Club Twin Cities’ most successful year to date.”

Polaris also received an Award of Merit for their 2018 Polaris Direct Holiday Card, mailed in a 6″ x 9″ closed-faced envelope with a hand-affixed First Class holiday stamp, and addressed with a handwritten font to make the package look more personal. Recipients were greeted with a personalized holiday message and encouraged to visit a URL to select from a list of charities to give to this year. The card showcased the company’s graphic design talent and four-color variable data inkjet capabilities.

Each entry was judged anonymously on its own merit in a category with similar printed pieces, by a panel of judges with extensive experience in printing and print production. The judging criteria included: registration, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, overall visual impact and bindery.
