Data Processing Specialist / Variable Data Programmer

Polaris Direct is currently seeking a Data Processing Specialist/Variable Data Programmer to join our fast-paced team. This position combines the arts of programming and project management. As a liaison between internal departments and account managers, our programmers facilitate timely, high-quality output of work in the field of direct mail and printing services, as well as 1:1 marketing campaign management.

The Data Processing Specialist will oversee and engage in all aspects of the programming life-cycle including:

  • Processing/manipulating data files per client specifications
  • Variable letter text set-up
  • Data processing
  • NCOA/CASS processing of data files
  • Postal Regulatory compliance
  • Quality assurance
  • MICR encoding
  • Commingling
  • Commercial and large format printing
  • Forms
  • High-volume, 4-color variable data inkjet printing

Experience/Qualifications

  • 2-4 year college degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Knowledge of: BCC Mail Manager, GMC Inspire (scripting/programming letter text), Adobe InDesign & Acrobat, Microsoft Visual FoxPro (database structures), StyleList, MS Office, Windows and Mac Operating Systems
  • C++ Programming
  • Specialized knowledge of direct mail lettershop procedures

Director of Operations

Polaris Direct is currently seeking a highly motivated, experienced Director of Operations to join our fast-paced team. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations in a manner that generates revenues through cost controls associated with production and service standards. The Director of Operations is responsible for maintaining policies, managing daily operations, planning the use of materials and personnel in coordination with the General Managers of Production, Personalization Services, and Client Services. You will set and meet objectives at the executive level, drive operational consistency, client satisfaction, and retention to increase revenue and profit growth.

Director of Operations will engage in activities and responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Resolving issues in order to manage and build client relationships
  • Providing industry insight on emerging communication technologies, workflow, and/or trends
  • Driving continuous improvement and innovation of service delivery processes and standards across the client/account base to increase cost effectiveness, value, and maximize account growth opportunities
  • Leading and supporting new business opportunities by taking an active role in proposal development for bids and implementation of new business (including new service offerings)
  • Monitoring, measuring, and reporting on operational issues, opportunities, and development plans
  • Contributing to the evaluation and development of operational strategy and performance in cooperation with the executive team
  • Directing and coordinating department activities associated with production, pricing, sales or product offerings

Estimator

Polaris Direct is currently seeking a highly motivated Estimator to join our fast-paced team. The Estimator will work closely with the estimating supervisor to ensure successful delivery of production, print, and labor estimates. This person will also serve as the primary point person for all third-party outsourcing and will assist in obtaining the necessary information to generate and send requests in a timely and accurate fashion.

In this role, the Estimator will oversee and engage in all aspects of the estimating process, including:

  • Estimating costs of labor and materials for printing forms and other printed materials based on Requests for Estimates, including:
    • Examining print specifications, sketches, and sample layouts
    • Calculating unit and production costs utilizing PrintStream (ERP software)
    • Considering size, number of sheets or pages, paper stock requirements, finishing operations, number and units of color, and quality of finished product
  • Conferring with departments across the organization to develop or confirm information regarding cost factors
  • Estimating cost of mailing the finished product if requested
  • Establishing/maintaining vendor relationships
  • Outsourcing

Experience/Qualifications

  • 2-4 year college degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Prior experience in direct mail or printing industry
  • Knowledge of business concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and effectively handle multiple deadlines in a team-driven environment
  • Aptitude for learning new software systems
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
  • Ability to demonstrate math aptitude, including the ability to:
    • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
    • Compute rate, ratio, and percentage
    • Calculate figures and amounts
  • Experience working with web, digital, and sheet-fed printers a plus
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft applications including Excel
  • Experience with entering pricing information into client web portals
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software; knowledge of PrintStream a plus.

Production: Bindery Setup / Operators

Polaris Direct is currently seeking Production personnel for our first and second shift teams.

  • Responsible for setting up, maintaining, and repairing bindery equipment
  • Set up and monitor high-speed continuous form cutters and folders during operation and make necessary adjustments
  • Ability to read and follow work orders and instructions in written and oral form
  • Ability to maintain daily manufacturing machine quotas
  • Perform quality assurance checks during production run
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • Shift differential for 2nd shift employees
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or 3 to 6 months related experience

Production: Inserter Operators / Sorters

Polaris Direct is currently seeking Production personnel for our first and second shift teams.

  • Operation of high-speed FlowMaster and Pinnacle inserters
  • Ability to read and follow work orders and instructions in written and oral form
  • Ability to follow quality assurance procedures to produce error-free work
  • Ability to maintain daily job quotas
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • Shift differential for 2nd shift employees
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or 3 to 6 months related experience

Production: Lettershop Set-Up Operators / Mechanics

Polaris Direct is currently seeking Production personnel for our first and second shift teams.

  • Responsible for setting up, maintaining, and repairing lettershop equipment
  • Set up and monitor high-speed inserters, inkjet printers, and various lettershop equipment during operation and make necessary adjustments
  • Ability to read and follow work orders and instructions in written and oral form
  • Ability to maintain daily manufacturing machine quotas
  • Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled
  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • Shift differential for 2nd shift employees
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or 3 to 6 months related experience

Vice President of Business Development—Direct Mail

Polaris Direct is currently seeking a Vice President of Business Development—Direct Mail to join our team. Responsibilities include prospecting new clients and sales, as well as sales presentations and client meetings. Candidate should be a highly motivated, solutions-oriented sales professional with experience in the direct marketing industry and expertise in consultative selling. Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must.

Experience: Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years experience in direct marketing sales and business development. Knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, project management software and CRM.
